Monday / Tuesday 23 /24 January

Class began with a quick write:
What "big idea /them" (e.g. faith; family; illusions and delusions; hope; survival; good vs. evil; human nature; etc.) is most interesting to you in Night? Why? How do you think it will come up in the remainder of the memoir?

Students were asked to enter the following due dates in their planers.

While reading each of the chapters in Night they should take notes on the theme that they wrote about in the quick write today.

Also a reminder that SSR sheets must be complete the 25th / 26th.

Students turned in their poems after doing the following activities with them:
What intangible thing(s) is /are meant to be part of your poem?
What do you hope a reader will think about after they hear your poem?
Underline any very strong images or metaphors.
Put a squiggly line under any too vague or general words / phrases.
Ask Mr. Zartler one question (specific) that will help you improve your poem.

Students had some work time to accomplish their various tasks.
